Pastor Jim and Vanessa Curran came to this area in July of 2016 after serving as pastor of several other Methodist Churches in Corpus Christi, Victoria, Falfurrias, Premont, and Kingsville. Both Pastor Jim and Vanessa grew up in Corpus Christi. They have four children and seven grandchildren. Pastor Jim acknowledges that he was called to ministry as a young boy attending a Catholic school. “I was convinced that I was going to be a priest. Then while in the tenth grade, I met a girl. Therefore, the priesthood went on the back burner. I finally answered the call to ministry in 2001.” His previous careers have included working at Flint Hills Refinery for 24 years, being an Assistant Principal and teacher. Pastor Jim is a life-long Dallas Cowboy fan, “Yes even through the ridiculous years.” He loves classic cars, motorcycles, high school and college sports “They are so real compared to pro sports.” His favorite movies are the epics like “Lord of the Rings”. Favorite TV shows are “Swamp People” and “Deadliest Catch” because those guys are doing stuff that I just could not do. “I firmly believe that our community is looking for what we have to offer. People are looking for a place where they can feel accepted, supported, and encouraged. This church can offer every person a chance to grow, learn, serve and make a real difference. We are offering programs and opportunities that no other church in the area offers. Come and be a part of the excitement.”
