We are centered on:
God
Everything we do is intended to bring people closer to God.
Prayer
We believe in the power of prayer.
Grace
We believe that God’s abundant grace is at work among us and we are the instruments that God uses to put that grace into action.
Family
We recognize we are all part of God’s family. We see the influence family has on our lives and community. We strive to provide opportunities for all God’s family to grow into all that God wants them to be. We have a place for every one of God’s children.

Mission
We seek to serve people in the name of Jesus Christ, showing that they are precious children of God. They are valued and loved.
Teams
We were not created to stand alone. Our gifts and talents are designed to work best in groups. We believe that teams use all the diverse gifts and talents God has given us to accomplish our goals. The strength of a team is the result of the collective talents of its members.
Generosity
We teach, model, and encourage people to be generous with their time, talents, and gifts so that this ministry makes a difference.

Our Beliefs
God in Three Persons
We believe in one God in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
God the Father
We believe that God the Father is the creator of heaven and earth. Since God breathed life into all of creation, we should honor all of creation and love every person.
God’s Love and Grace
God loves all of us even though we sin and fall short of what God wants us to be.
Jesus is the perfect example of God’s love.
We believe in the Holy Spirit who is with us to counsel, guide and strengthen us.
The Bible is the inspired word of God and contains all that is necessary to find salvation through Jesus Christ.

Our History
Schertz United Methodist Church: An Icon of Schertz
Schertz United Methodist Church has a rich history beginning in July 1903 with a two-week revival sponsored by Bracken Community Methodist. Travel by horse and buggy made attending services in Bracken challenging for Schertz residents. During the revival, Mr. William S. Schneider, a founding resident of Schertz, donated an acre of land on Church Street for the new church. Ten members held services on this land, and by May 1904, a church building was erected with significant community involvement; many donated their time and the women raised funds by soliciting other churches. In 1906, the church joined a circuit with Bracken,
and by 1924, it had grown to 50 members and chose to become an independent congregation. Over the years, from 1924 to 1969, the church underwent numerous expansions and renovations, including additions like a parsonage, stained glass windows, and new facilities. In 1952, part of the Educational Building was destroyed by fire. The church relocated to its current 7-acre site in 1991, and by 1998, the original sanctuary was completed. The current sanctuary was finished in December 2012, with its inaugural service held on Christmas Eve.

FAQ
When are your services?
We offer three different services on Sundays. Our 9:00 am service is more traditional, with structured liturgy and hymns, old and new, led by the Chancel Choir and piano.
At 11:15 am, our praise worship service takes place in the sanctuary. Through this service, experience God through vibrant, contemporary band-led music, with a mix of liturgy and traditions.
Also at 11:15 am, The Gathering takes place in the Fellowship Hall and offers a contemporary, inclusive worship service in a laid-back, accepting atmosphere.
The sacrament of Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month.

What will my children do?
If you have an infant or child up to age 5 (not in kindergarten), the nursery might be the best place for your child. Open from 8:45 am to 12:30 pm, the nursery offers a loving and God-centered environment with play, mini lessons, music, and more.
Our worship services are "kid-friendly." We welcome children to participate in the service by participating in "Small Talk." Children can also acolyte, pass the collection plates, and read scripture. We also offer books and quiet activities children can work on during the service. You can find these at one of the two Children's Tables, located in the back corners of the sanctuary.*
Nursing moms and parents with small children who may need a more comfortable space can use the "Quiet Room" just off the main lobby, overlooking the sanctuary.*
*Applies to the 9:00 am (Traditional) and 11:15 (Praise) services held in the sanctuary.
