Schertz UMC
Service
At SUMC we believe children are a part of the intergenerational worship experience. Adults and children worship alongside one another. All children are encouraged to be involved in our services. They may serve as liturgist, ushers, greeters, acolytes, choir members, drama participants, and much more!
Worship
Children are never too young to participate in worship and are welcome, with open arms, at Schertz United Methodist Church!
The children who attend SUMC are a valuable part of our church family. Our children's worship leaders aim to ensure that they grow up with a knowledge and understanding of Christ. They serve to share the Good News to all God's children through love, example and action. As these little people grow older we hope to support them as they make their own decisions about what Christianity means to them.
We also arrange occasional all-age services; giving the adults a chance to appreciate our young people as they lead our prayers, provide our Bible readings, and occasionally help with serving communion.

Schertz UMC Youth Fellowship
The SUMC Youth Fellowship is a group of 7th through 12th graders eager to grow in their relationship with God. Weekly gatherings include fun, food, fellowship, friendship, worship, song, service, and study.
The Youth Fellowship meets every Sunday at SUMC from 12:45 PM to 3:00 PM.
Each year the group plans a summer camp out/retreat (usually in early August), a winter retreat in January, and each June spends one week in south Texas building and repairing homes. The group hosts fundraisers throughout the year to pay for the mission trip. A good portion of this mission trip support is earned in the early spring when they spend Saturday mornings delivering and spreading compost on yards in the area.

3rd Grade Bible Ceremony
Confirmation
Every year, all 3rd graders are invited to participate in a special ceremony where they will be presented with a Bible from the church. It is our pleasure to share the blessings and wonders of God’s Word with our children.
Confirmation is a class in the United Methodist Church for youth to confirm their faith and become a full member of the United Methodist Church. This class is an opportunity to learn the basic teachings of the Christian Church and explore what it means to follow Jesus Christ. We will explore who God is, who we are, what God has done for us, and what he calls us to do with our lives.
Vacation Bible School
Blessing of the Backpacks
Every summer at Schertz United Methodist Church we host Vacation Bible School (VBS), a weeklong program using Bible stories, songs, arts and crafts, skits, and other activities geared toward sharing the Word with the children of our community.
To start a new school year with all the blessings of God, children (and adults) are invited to bring their backpack, bag, tote, or whatever they use, to church for a very special blessing.
