Schertz UMC Music Program
At Schertz UMC, we seek to glorify God through the music and arts present in worship. Music plays an integral role in theological teaching, prayer, and worship, and music for morning worship is carefully selected to help connect the congregation to the scripture and season of spiritual development. Our music teams rehearse weekly and use their talents to serve in worship on Sundays and other holy days. Our mission is to facilitate the song of the congregation so that we may all fully participate in worshiping God with our whole selves.
Instrumentalists are encouraged to participate in music by playing solos, small ensemble music, and adding to the music of the Chancel Choir and/or Praise Band. If you play an instrument and would like to play regularly or occasionally in worship, contact Leah Krenek, our Director of Music & Worship Arts.

Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir leads hymns and offers music in various choral traditions for 9:00 Sunday worship and holy days throughout the church year. They present special musical services with guest soloists and instrumentalists twice a year near Christmas and Easter, attend choral workshops annually, and bring the joy of music to assisted living facilities and the homebound throughout the year. The Chancel Choir is open to singers of all experience levels, ages 12 and up. Younger singers may also join with their parents so that the whole family may sing together. They rehearse Thursday nights at 7:00pm in the Sanctuary, and warm up at 8:30 Sunday mornings to prepare for worship.
